National Children's Food Festival

image

Next week is National Children's Food Festival from 12th to 16th September, bringing children closer to food. As we advocate healthy eating in our nursery, we thought it would be a great opportunity to engage with this. We will be exploring fruit and vegetables, tasting and making and baking, whilst discussing food from all around the world using books like "Handa’s Surprise" and "The Hungry Caterpillar". There will be outings to look at and buy fruit and veg and lots of art activities and messy play. It could be great for those children who are slightly more fussy eaters, too!

This is something that we are looking into delivering on a long term basis, where staff and parents could bring in different foods for the children to try and explore. We are even looking at obtaining a regular Veg Box, so if you grow your own foods, have anything in abundance or something that you think would be good for the children, then please do not hesitate to ask. Obviously we are aware of children’s allergies, but please do not hesitate to discuss any issues with us that you may have.

All of this will coincide with harvest festival, so we are really excited and we know the children will be, too!

See you soon!
